Boobcast: The Book

I’ve planned to write this book for somewhere around 2 years. My husband has pushed me. My friends have pushed me. Some of you have mentioned that a book would be a wonderful thing.

It’s not that I don’t want to write this book. I just have a few ducks that need to be in line before I start. The first has always been successful reconstruction. Without that, well my regular readers know that without this reconstruction, I probably wouldn’t be here.

So, the first obstacle has been hurdled.

Number Two: Successful nipple reconstruction.  I’ve got some fears surrounding that. Mostly I’m afraid of necrosis. I also have concerns about the new nips flattening. If it’s going to happen, it usually happens within 2 months.

My surgeon, Dr. Elliott, seems to think neither thing will be a problem. He says he builds nipples twice as big to account for shrinkage. But I digress.

Once I’m healed from nipple reconstruction, then I still have medical tattooing. THEN I’ll be done. Finally.

I really don’t want to start the book until after everything is done and completely healed. So much can still happen. I don’t want to take the chance of writing something then have to turn around and shred chapters because I’ve had more unfortunate complications.

Writing the book itself isn’t really an obstacle. My first husband and I wrote nine fantasy novels. I know I can do it. It’s just a matter of time and timing. Time in that I want to have everything surgical completed first. And timing because then I have to fit writing every day into my schedule on top of this blog, http://fledgelingskeptic.com and any public speaking engagements. So it’s probably going to take a while.

Really, I just want everything done so that, in the end, I can say that they all lived happily ever after.
